綿100% シルクスクリーン製版を使用して熟練した職人が手作業で刷ったTシャツです。 シカゴのサウスサイドにある、フローレンス・ラウンジと呼ばれるライブハウスで、1960年代にハウンド・ドッグ・テイラーと彼のバンド、ザ・ハウスロッカーズは毎週日曜日に演奏していた。お祭り騒ぎのようなライブはお昼すぎから始まり、盛り上がりが最高潮に達するまで続いたものだった。 アリゲイター・レコードの創設者であるブルース・イグラウアーがハウンド・ドッグ・テイラーとバンドの音楽に魅せられ、その唯一無二の音をレコードに焼き付けようと決意したのが、まさしくこのライブハウスであった。ブルースはハウンド・ドッグのバンドがフローレンスで演奏しているときの様子をこのようにふり返っている。「メンバーは楽器をステージではなくて、床に置いていた。テーブルはライブハウスの外に運び出していた。3時間ぶっ通しで演奏してたよ。みんな通路や椅子の上で踊っていた」。観客の多くは酔っぱらっていて、そのエネルギーたるや半端なかった。 その音は、音楽そのものであり、直に人々に伝わった。活気に満ちたかつてのフローレンスがあった場所は、いまでは空き地となっている。 通りすがりにじっと耳をすませば、熱狂とともに観客を汗まみれにさせたハウンド・ドッグ・テイラーとザ・ハウスロッカーズの魅力的な音楽が聴こえてくるに違いない。 このTシャツのデザインは、フローレンスのモノクロ写真を元にしたものです。 【 Designed by Edwin Fortheringham 】 エドウィン・フォザリンガムは、25年以上にわたって音楽ジャケット、雑誌、児童書、広告、テクノロジーの分野でイラスト作品を描いてきた。エドは、オーストラリアのシドニーからワシントン大学に通うためシアトルに引っ越して来た。シアトルで急成長する音楽シーンにいるミュージシャンたちと親しくなり仕事をするようになった。マッドハニーの初期のジャケットの多くを手掛けたのをきっかけに、イラストの仕事に本腰を入れるようになった。以後現在にいたるまで、ボブ・ディラン、エルヴィス・コステロ、ダイアナ・クラール、ボ・ディドリー、デューク・エリントン、エラ・フィッツジェラルド、ルイ・アームストロング、そして地元の友人であるマッドハニーといったように無数のアーティストたちに作品を提供している。 100% Cotton Silkscreen printed by hand Sometimes referred to as Florence’s Lounge, this South Side Chicago club is where Hound Dog Taylor and his band The HouseRockers performed regularly during the 1960s and early 70s. Florence’s had live blues music on Sundays - the festivities starting in the early evening and lasting until the mercury shattered the top of the excitement meter. This is where Alligator Record’s founder Bruce Iglauer was captivated by the music of Hound Dog Taylor and his band and realized that he had to preserve their inimitable sound on record. Bruce described seeing Hound Dog and his band play at Florence’s this way: “His band had their equipment on the floor, no bandstand, they moved a table out of the bar. They played for three hours straight. People were dancing in the aisles and on the seats. Lots of people were really drunk and the energy level was fantastic. The music was totally raw and infectious”. The spot where Florence’s once vigorously stood is now a vacant lot. In passing, if you focus intently, you can still hear the magnetic sound of Hound Dog Taylor and The HouseRockers - working the audience into a sweat- drenched frenzy. Ed’s work for musicians began in Seattle after moving from Sydney, Australia, to attend the University of Washington where he befriended members of the burgeoning music scene. After creating much of the early cover art for the band Mudhoney, his illustration career began in earnest. In the years since, Ed has contributed illustrated graphics for a myriad of artists including Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Bo Diddley, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and local pals Mudhoney.
