綿100% シルクスクリーン製版を使用して熟練した職人が手作業で刷ったTシャツです。 このデザインは、70年代後半から80年代前半の12インチ・シングルレコードへの敬意を表している。当時の12インチ盤は、A面にボーカル入りの楽曲、B面にインストゥルメンタル・バージョンを収録するのが一般的でした。 この時代、サム、トミー・ボーイ、エンジョイ、シュガー・ヒル、プリズム、サルソウル、ウエスト・エンド・レコーズといったインディペンデント・レーベルが独自の存在感を示していました。それらは「Disco Single」や「Disco」といったタイトルを掲げ、多彩な色とデザインのスリーブでレコードショップの棚を彩っていたのです。 今回、ステレオエイトがフォーカスしたのは、1981年のダンスフロアを揺らしたシークレット・ウェポンの至宝、「Must Be The Music」。 7分間にわたるこの楽曲は、脈打つようなビート、重厚なベースライン、そして魅力的なボーカルが特徴のダンスフロア・クラシックです。特に5分過ぎから畳み掛けるカメオ・ラップは、決して外せません。 デジタルが主流となった現代において、12インチ・シングルを探し出し、手にし、仲間と分かち合ったあの高揚感。ステレオエイトは、その純粋な喜びとエネルギーをこの1枚に込めています。 100% Cotton Silkscreen printed by hand This design pays tribute to 12” record singles from the late seventies and early eighties.  These records generally featured a song with vocals on the A-side, and an instrumental version of the song on the B-side.  During this time independent record labels such as SAM, Tommy Boy, Enjoy, Sugar Hill, Prism, Salsoul, and West End Records, to name a few, were making their mark.  The 12” singles came with sleeves in various colors and designs, and with titles such as ‘Disco Single’ or simply ‘Disco’.  This Stereo8 design celebrates the song ‘Must Be The Music’ by Secret Weapon, which came out in 1981.  The 7-minute song is a dance floor classic with a pulsating beat, a thumping bassline, and compelling vocals - followed by a cameo rap that starts at around the 5-minute mark.  In the current world of digital downloads and listening to music online, we at Stereo8 celebrate 12” singles and the pure joy and elation that they brought to those who searched for, found, shared and enjoyed them.
